I had a similar experience at Fairfield petland I have papers but now the female English bulldog looks nothing like my male didn't get a pet agree with her either she was supposed to come from a John lapp Williamsburg indiana but when attempting to make contact it says it's a greenhouse so I believe papers are bogus my dog has a tail and a skinny body John at petland says he can prove she is legit but it's not possible I paid 4100 for this dog was told by animal care center that she looked like a Victorian bulldog not sure what to do may hire a lawyer the petland responsible is located in fairfield oh 45014

Guest

How could you spend $3500 on a dog and not have the papers before you wrote the check? What is wrong with you?

And then you want toe breed her anyway? Make more unnecessary puppies for $$$?

I hope you never get the papers. :(

Guest

this place could not be any worse than somethingsphishy, website somethingsphishy.com they are just awful! have lots of negative feeback online and BBB reports against them.

Guest

Take them to court, that seems to be what I have to do.

Not gonna get your money back AND keep the dog. That's how pet stores operate. They are in it for money only.

Guest

never going to get your money back....just so you know. read the fine print.

Guest

Sorry to hear about your problem, as I too bought two puppies from petland and one puppy died. We are now just hoping his brother recovers fully.

Unfortunately Petland does not guarantee the paperwork you are speaking of. At least that was what was written in our contract. Although expensive, your best recourse is to hire an lawyer, if you cannot find one who specializes in pet laws then ask if they have experience in this.

Petland tries to cover themselves with fine print and such. Just please inform others not to buy from Petland.

Guest

You sound like an *** with an anger problem

Guest

That is not stealing if the company give your money back. and it is there problem they dont know how to run a business the right way and promise you all this stuff on paper that you are going to get it and you pay all this money and you dont get any of it.

They technically sold a fraud anmial because according to the AKC they is no such animal. So you tell me how they are not stealing money from us??

Guest

You can't do that. Thats stealing. You should be ashamed of yourself

Don't go to petland in Lewis center ohio

I felt with them in saltwater fish and tanks and my fish have died and they tell you its your fault. The tanks leak and then they will tell you there's nothing they can do.

I had the tank for four months and they said its out of warranty. They tell you that they will help and it cost you more money.

I emailed there corporation office and all they can say is its privately owned, and I stated the name on the sign says petland so you can help. I have been working on this problem since August and I'm using the Better business bureau to help me.

Clint, I'm not aware of your situation? I also am confused as we do not have a Marlena that manages this store?

Our warranty coverage -if anything related to it's stay in our kennel occures in the first 14 days, all treatments are covered at the Bethel Animal Hospital until the puppy is better ( if puppy was diagnosed on day 14 it's treatment is coverd at the aaaqBethel Animal hospital until it is cleared of it's issue). If you would like to contact me at the store so I may further assist you, please do so.

John

There is no one named Marlena at Petland Lewis Center. Please contact the store if you have a problem. Thank you

Guest

Marlena at the Lewis Center Petland is awful. I am filing a complaint with the Attorney General, the Humane Society, and the Better Business Bureau, as well as Six on Your Side.

A simply Google search of "Petland Lewis Center' turns up an entire host of searches that opens the public eye as to the horror of what is going on at this store. This manager is extremely unprofessional, and almost killed our puppy by allowing him to sit in a crate there before our purchase with kennel cough so bad that the vet thought that he would die. He now has chronic kennel cough he is susceptible to, he's had 3 bouts with it and my wife and I must pay out of pocket because of the policy that 'after 15 days all costs go to the buyer'. We shall see.

More than anything I want to take action because of the rude nature of Marlena the manager and the way she talked to us has left an awful taste in my mouth. Mike Dewine is meeting with me soon.

Please everyone research the Lewis Center petland and see what I am talking about. Not all Petlands are created equal, this one has had 11 violations I have learned while the one in Hilliard for instance has had zero and noted that the Lewis Center petland was notoriously really ran in a shady manner.

Guest

They are terrible! do not go there!

i worked there and they are terrible terrible people that teach their employees to lie!

trust me i worked there. They sell you broke supplies for twice the price of other places and almost never have healthy puppies.

Dr. LA Franc was the vet I used at the time I purchased a puppy at Petland. Because he was the vet that signed the vet certificate for the puppy it was fine...he had the nerve to criticize me for buying the puppy there...WHAT????

Guest

So, I don't get where you got me saying "she handled" it out of my previous comment, so I am just going to accept that you are a retard and no amount of anything will change that. And BTW it is spelled "under" not "uder".

Also, it is a fair portion of the garuntee slip for small animal that explains all about stress, hence reading paperwork before you sign it.

Guest

THE LADY NEVER SAID SHE MAN HANDLED THE RABBIT!! I WONDER IF THE PET COUNSELOR THAT SOLD HER THE RABBIT EXPLAINED STRESS AND ALL TO THIS LADY YOU ARE THE FLIPPING RETARD AND YOU HONESTLY CAN'T READ !!

Guest

So your telling us that because you stressed the *** out of your bunny and it got sick, that Petland abused it? You mam are my new most retarded person.

PETLAND STOLE MY CHRISTMAS

I bought a puppy from Petland on November 30, 2008. Since that time the vet bills have exceeded $500!

The puppy has so many digestive problems, she is on eight different medications and is still having diarrhea and vomiting. Petland refuses to discuss it at all and have had me banned from the store. Apparently, they don't like anyone saying "sick puppy" in a crowded store at Christmas! Well, my Christmas is ruined because the vet bills have taken everything I had and more.

Petland is digusting!

Their employees are liars. I don't understand how they sleep at night. They are trained specifically to deceive the public. I will never stop telling everyone I meet about the low-life thieves that work at Petland.

I'm glad I rescued my little Roxie from those monsters but I will NEVER do it again and I will campaign with all I have and every spare moment I have to make sure they don't do it to someone else.

You people are ridiculous. Well more specifically the last person who wrote.

All that "District Kennel M" said was to e-mail him if you have any questions or concerns and then you just come on here and have a tantrum. Grow up, you're making yourself look ***.

I don't know what went on in the store in which you worked but it's obvious that's not what all Petlands are like. Unfortunately you're too ignorant to see this any other way then what you have made up in your little inane mind.

Guest

when you buy an animal it doesnt come in a box or wrapped in some sort of packaging does it? its not like a stereo that you buy get it home and find out the cd player doesnt play, or like buying a car that turns out to be a lemon...if it looks sick, sounds sick, or just isnt looking cheary then dont buy it.

Animals are a real responsability and this includes medical bills, so dont buy if you cant fully be parenting it. a sick puppy should never be a complaint or blamed for a ruined x-mas, hopefully the pup had a nice one...

Guest

I'm curious, how much did you pay for the pup?

Guest

Petland Canada shares the same Petland name as the US...and that's about it. Hunte's has absolutely nothing to do with Petland Canada.

In your earlier illiterate rant, you mentioned you worked for a Petland franchise that purchased from Hunte?

I thought you were from Manitoba? Forgive me if I'm wrong, your all CAPS, gramatically incorrect statement was a little hard to understand...

Know your facts before defaming a large group of very passionate employees who care more for the animals they adopt than you ever will.

and by the way. everyone here has already made thier assumptions, and now they look for facts to support their perspective.

it doesn't work this way. try proving your own ideas wrong in order to see what's truth.

illiminate the impossible first. don't be biased because of your emotions.

everyone is missing the point of the disagreement. just because your puppy is sick doesn't mean it came from ethicly wrong treatment (puppy mills)it means that the method of trade is flawed.

making these pets so accesable means there are more pets for sale than people purchasing. and what happens when you have to much produce? it goes bad. plain and simple, pets should be bread to order.

not maid available for choice.

if you buy from suppliers you are as bad as the ones you hate. go to a real breeder yourself for all pets.it's the only way to solve your problems, and if you arn't willing to do this stop complaining.

Petland Lied about Ferret we bought

My boyfriend and I decied to purchase a pet. Due to living at home and in an apartment, we decided on a ferret. We read up on them, and my boyfriend's family has a sweet bald old ferret. We checked out a few petstores and someone said Petland in Monroeville is a good place to go, and that all their ferrets were from that store. That was about 2-3 weeks before the original purchase. We picked 2 that we liked and asked when the ferrets had come in. The co-manager said that the six had come in the day before, and that they were 3-4 months old. On the tank for the ferrets it said the were " Up To Date" on vaccinations, guaranteed for 1 year, and healthy. Another sign said "Ferrets $149.99 Save $50 Everyday price $199.99". On 4/9/2008 we went in to purchase our ferret. We ened up with a light sable female, who was our 2nd pick from the two we liked 3 weeks ago. Our sales girl said they were 3-4 months old, and that we had to buy a $25 bag of food to get a 3 year guarantee through the breeder. She also said that we should buy a "Pet Club Membership" so we could get another $50 off on the ferret. We agreed, purchased our ferret and took her home. Everything was good for about 3 hours. Then Kikyo became agressive and bit my boyfriend drawing blood. She also began shaking the cage with her teeth. On 4/10/2008 we called Petland. The Sales Associate we talked to refused to allow us to talk to a manager, and said we would have to pay 25% to restock her if we retured her, and that we could not have our money back. We took her up to Petland immediately trying to return her. Her behavior changed, and the co-manager we had talked to 3 weeks ago passively talked us out of putting her back. They said they would just put her in a tank by herself and "re-sell" her to someone else for $50. Also he then said she was not 4 months old but 5, and teething. He convinced us to buy "Grennicks Bitter Apple" and to spray it up her nose and in her mouth. That it would keep her from biting due to the bitter taste. Another $12. 83 and we were on our way home with Kikyo. The Grennicks worked for about 2 hours then she started biting through the taste. She bit my mother, and drew blood. On 4/11/2008 I woke up to Kikyo coughing violently for about 15 seconds. I figured she maybe ate too fast or just needed to cough. My boyfriend then heard it later again that day, and it continued all day. At 10:00 P.M. we were instructed by an Emergency Vet to bring her in. We brought her to the vet, and they both said she had her adult teeth and that she was not teething. They also said we should have recieved vaccination records and to quarantine her for 10 days, because we were not given them. They diagnosed her with an upper respriatory infection, and prescribed Amoxicillin ( which we are both allergic to). They said ferrets dont show signs of illness until its in an advanced stage( so it was in her system for about 2-3 weeks), and that she could have died if left in the petstore or untreated for a few more days. We acquired a $105 vetbill, on top of the original $245 purchase and Grennicks for $12.83. 4.12/2008 We registerd our ferret online at the breeder's website at about 2 AM. Ten minutes later we recieved the Guarantee in an e-mail and it stated the "seller" was responsible for everything. We did research late into the night, and found out numerous problems with Petlands all over the country. We returned to the Monroeville store and showed them all our bills and recipts. The manager, wouldnt even let me say what was wrong with her. As soon as I stated that Kikyo was sick, she blurted out "OH she has a URI, most of our ferrets develop them" She also stated that they know their animals are sick and sell them with medication. She gave us a $20 check for the Amoxicillin, and said they wont cover vet bills because we should have called the store, that even though the store was closed the automated message had her cell phone number on it ( I called later that day and it was not on there). Also we were supposed to take her to their vet. We were never told they had a vet. When we asked for the vaccination recoreds they said we cant find them come in monday. They were rude took the box the Amoxicillin came in from us and pretty much hurried us out of the store. 4/13/2008 Everything seemed to be going fine, we were researching a small claims case against the store, and Kikyo seemed to be coughing less. Well late that night while we had her out to socialize, she bit my boyfriend on the thumb, sinking her teeth in shaking her head aggressivley. Because she was still under quarantine, we called the Emergency Vets and were instructed to go to the hospital. We did and my boyfriend ended up with a band aid, neosporin, and a quick dose of anti-biotics. We recieved our bills and it was $304.32 for the ER, and $263.75 for the physician. 3/14/2008 We once again returned to Monroeville, to demand the vaccination records. The co-manager said petstores dont keep those, and began getting very short with us. We walked out and said see you in court. Not even five mintues later down the road they called saying they had a paper. It said Kikyo was one of 8 ferrets she was born 1/14/2008, and was vaccinated at 5 weeks old on 2/22/2008...which is way too young for a ferret to be vaccinated. Also Triple F Farm's called me. We had been calling them since 4/10/2008. He said it wasnt their problem but that the guarantee card should have had her age, and shot record on the back. During the next week we called everywhere, and ended up finally being able to contact corporate, after days of trying the week before. A sales associate in Athens Ohio Petland put a call through for us. While waiting for a contact from corporate, we found out she should have been vaccinated at 8, 11, and 14 weeks old, and that the vaccination used on her was for MINKS ONLY ( DISTEM R TC). We talked to everyone from the American Ferret Association, The USDA, the Vet that supposedly vaccinated Kikyo, and anyone else we could get ahold of. Another vet said that she would need 2 shots at her age of 5 1/2 monts to 1 year old ( because her adult teeth are in) which will run us about $100 if not more. We are currently in the process of getting our case together, and filing a law suit for over $900 against the PetLand in Monroeville. Corporate called us back and said that the owners of the store refuse to refund us any money other than the $20 check for the amoxicillin ( which we havent cashed yet). We got the names of the owners ( which the last name was wrong) and that Corporate cant do anything more because this Petland is a franchise. We are just now one of the 1000's of people who have been ripped off from another Petland Store. We have a good feeling we may win our case and get most if not all of the money back considering we have the backed into the wall so to speak. Anyway I just want to warn anyone looking into Petland for an animal. You will just end up amongst us all who are out hundreds if not thousands for buying a sick animal from their horrible store.

On January 23, 2012 I walked into Petland Monroeville to see what kind of ferrets they had in the store. My female partner and I were in our EMS uniforms and spent an hour playing with the ferrets.

So we kinda stuck out in the crowd. I made a decision and notified the sales associate that I would like to purchase him. She took me to the front counter and I inquired if I could pay for him now and come back in the evening at 2000hrs to pick him up. She assured me that this was OK and I paid for the ferret in full.

She told me to bring back the receipt and his birth certificate and I would receive my ferret. I entered the store at 1945hrs and went directly to the ferret cage. I did not see him in the cage and immediately notified a female sales employee that I was here to pick up my ferret and that he was not in the cage. She ran around the store looking for the sales manager.

Neither would make eye contact with me and would not address the issue. She told me that there had been a mistake and proceeded to make me wait. I was informed that they sold my ferret to a man and a woman thinking that they were me. However, this person paid for the ferret, meaning the ferret was sold twice.

He basically lied to my face about the situation, and he began to change his story every time I found a error in it. He then explained to me that if I would have purchased a cage they would have had a place to store him and therefore this mistake wouldn't have happened. I never received an apology, was blamed for his mishandling of the situation and was only told that this never happened before. I was also told I had to take the refund.

I was treated with disregard and blamed for my loss due to not spending more money in this store.

I already have 1 ferret in a cage at home, there was no reason to purchase another cage for my new ferret. I had explained this the first time that I was in the store and purchased the ferret that I would never see again.

Guest

We bought ours from Petland as well without any issues. If you are buying a pet, make sure you know what you are getting into.

Animals ALWAYS needs vacinations! Just like a dog you don't just get one when they are a puppy and they are done. The same with any other animal!! This is common sense!

I don't know why these people thought that it was just going to be one shot and done! That is not the way it is! Most animals are sick and do get sick easily when they are young.

The biting was because it was still young and was scared. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that you introduce any animal carefully!!!!

Guest

:cry Petland is horrible however you never spray things up her nose or mouth. Probably spray it on your fingers maybe? Im guessing thats what it meant.

Guest

Pet land makes me want to vomit .......just an FYI PetLand gets their animals (mostly their dogs) from the 'Hunt Corporation.' this is a GIANT puppy mill in Missouri. Many of the locations have been or are being shut down because they suck so much and dont take care of their animals.

one location caught an employee DROWNING a rabbit and putting pictures of the dead rabbits online. like i said.... i want to vomit.

Please think twice before giving them your business!!!! :(

Me and my wife bought a ferret from petland in st charles MO and hes the nicest ferret my family has seen. They use to have them over the years.

And they only problem we had was the cage we got from petsmart had *** in the bars and he broke his finger. Petland gave us when we bought him a free vet visit. He was 4 months old when we got him and hes almost a year now and we havnt had any medical problems and he has never bitten us unless we were playing with him and he got overly excited.

Are roomates ferret also from petland but a different baton rouge is an evil ferret who attacks everyone. I guess we just got lucky

that makes me want to but all the animals =( poor things shouldnt have to live like that

How petland views its customers

Iapplied and was hired at Petland, and after only one day on the job, I wouldnt go back for a million dollars. Okay folks, lemme fill ya in on my first day of training and how petland trains its employees and how to treat the customer.

You either make min. wage or commission, which ever is higher. Most of the dogs there sell for 2,500 or higher so you can make a easy 500 bucks in one day of sales. well when it came to the guy and owner who were supposed to train me, lets just say they were to busy selling dogs then to train me. Everytime theyd start to tell me a policy they would rush over to someone looking at pups. they wouldnt rather no miss a commission then do their jobs training a new employee. first off the owner lauren tells me that, my main goal is to sell a puppy and to make money, this is a commission job.Its not like "hey guys lets find these puppies homes", nope its like "move them out at any cost".

Wanna know how eptland see you, its costomers? take this in for consideration. I was about 3 hours into my first day and in walks couple asking if they can "play" with a puppy. The owner takes me off to the side and says "ewww they are trashy people, they arent here to buy, only to waste our time while they entertain themselves". The shes goes off in detail about "how poor these people look and that they have to be unemployeed because of their clothes". Personaly they looked fine to me, i mean they werent dressed like a movie star but they were wearing everyday average clothes that even Id wear... ya know jeans and teeshirt. Then the owner preceeds to tell me Petland refers to these people or people who just come into look as F.O.S. I was confused and asked "whats that mean"?, she said "full of ***"! I was SHOCKED!!! I was sooo offened becasue i had come into the store before i was hired just looking around at whatever and now i know they considered me F.O.S because I was only looking.

Okay it gets worse. my boss told me their policy is "that the customers isnt always right, and that petsmart had spoiled them into thinking they are". She said "if a customer comes in I have the right to treat them anyway I want to and i can say anything i want to". Well then we get a sweetheart lady in asking if we sold a particular type of catfood, and the owner says "do you see it on our shelves, you are *** for asking such a dumb question". I was appaulled, she could have just said "no Im sorry we dont". The lady was attacked unprovoked, she wasnt rude or anything, the owner just jumped on her.

Then get this, its my first day and a little boy about 8 asked to see a hampster and his mom was standing behind us holding a 2 year old in her arms. The owner came up and asked "umm whats this about...if we let ever kid hold our hampsters they get wet tail and die". The little boy looked all upset at his mom and she covered her daughters ears (the 2 yr old) and said can we have less of the (spelling the word out to the owner) D-E-A-D?" the owner barks back yelling "umm its about time your kids know about death, i think they are old enough". HOW DARE THE OWNER JUDGE WHAT A PARENT TELLS THEIR KID AND WHEN!!! Ive never seen a pet store where it is their policy to treat the customer like ***.and yes... it still gets worse!!!

In the front of the store they have animals in open cages called "petters". These are ferrets, guinea pigs, hampster, bunnies, and birds. Petters mean you can pet them, but on the cages it says "we may ***". well all day long kids come in and pinch and prod these poor animals. the ferrets have taken up biting as play. so many people dangle their arms into the cages that the ferret thinks to a game to ***. STORE POLICY ON BITES: pet counselors are not to hand the animal to someone who wants to hold it, if the wanna hold it they get it out for themselves or their kids. If they get bit, they should have read the sign that they *** and its their own fault. Well i was trying to straighten a water bottle up in a petter ferrets cage and the thing bit and drew blood on my hand. A few minites later a guy came in and i felt it was my duty to warn him that the ferret bites and not to handle it. Then my boss started yellin at me for tellin him this. Another gentleman decided to try and hold it because he has ferrets. The ferret bit on to him so hard blood poured down his hand and dripped on the floor... the owner once again said "pffff its his own *** fault". So i spent most of my day terried for some poor unsuspecting kid or adult to put their arm into a cage that says "petter", not "bitter" and get bit. Now i dont know about you, but ive got to much of a conscious to stand there and let some innocent person get hurt. My boss had the nerve to tell me "ya know if you spend most of your day up here at the small animal section youll never make any money. Um hello money or trying to keep someone from getting hurt, you be the judge, aparently they can ignore it,but i couldnt.

Next comes the fellow employees. I now you arent at a job to make friends but to do your job but there has to be some sense or comradory and loyalty. the minute two of the other girl pet counselors left, the other girl began tellin the boss "so and so stole my sale and so and so did this"... she got the two other girls written up after they left when they werent even there to defend themselves. it seems at petland that if someone is to much compeitetion to you and they are making more sales and getting more commission you do what you have to to get them fired so you can have more sales. I never heard one employee say one nice thing about another, it was all about getting someone written up.

Now about kittens. it seems that people off the street come in with litters of kittens and surreneder them to petland. petland makes a copy or their current drivers license and then keeps the plain off the street joe anybodies kittens and sells them for up to 150 bucks a pop. I have cats and my cats all came from friends or shelters. I couldnt in good faith sell someone a plain ol cat for 150 bucks when i know they can go to a shelter and give one a home or get one for free just about anywhere.theres are not breeds of cats, these are off the street kittens being sold for that price.

Damage Resulting = My first day was 10 and 1/2 hours long with no lunch or breaks. i came home that night in shock and disgust at my "new job". My boyfriend said I ranted for about three hours. Ive never quit a job after one day. I worked my first day and had two days off. i didnt spend those two days off relaxing, i spent those two days racking my brian wondering what i got myself into. I couldnt even sleep at night because everything i had witnessed was running through my brain. I dont have it in me to be that mean to work there. I cant be mean to customers, or to fellow employees but that seems to be normal policy.I cant treat people who come in just looking as what my boss said "F.O.S" because that pretains to me as well cus i came in before just looking. And how can a person stand their and watch his fellow man get bit but a animal that they know WILL not may bit??? One day working their was far to much for me. Petland does not care about you, the customer... they conserider you F.O.S unless you buy a 4000 dollar dog which may be a mix breed. They dont care if their petters *** you, they call you stupide for getting bit. They call you *** for asking questions. They dont care about the welfare of the puppy only about how much that puppy brings them in commission. They dont care about their employees cus if you leave or they get you fired its more money for them. work for petsmart or a pet supplier, but not petland. I thought it would be a great job but boy was i wrong.

When I actually did quit, after one day they were even ruder to me. They asked me why I was quitting, and i told them that i had to much of a conscious to work there. I told them i couldnt stand there and watch person after person stick their hands into cages where i knew they would be hurt and bitten. the owner just said well "if the customer gets bit, they are ***".Can you believe that??? Its not like their animals might ***, their petter WILL ***.The owner told me "well we figured you wouldnt have lasted"...Ive never been more happy about quitting a job, Id of felt like a sell out and a horrible person to have kept working there. I actually like people, theres no way I could work at a place who has no concern for its customers. Petland doesnt care about its pets, customers or employees.

One last thing I thought about the night before I quit was about their puppies health. Now Ive had tons of puppies in my life time but something they said about their dogs struck me as odd. When you buy a puppy, they give you Hypoglycemia med for the puppy and tell the new puppy parent to limit play for the first four days. The owner told me that after the puppies are taken home, their new owners might play to much with them making the puppy go hypoglycemic from loosing to much blood sugar and then crash and go into shock and maybe death. Now all of the puppies Ive owned over my life time have never crashed and killed over after playing to much. A normal health puppy will simply stop playing and go to sleep when its played to much, not go into shock. maybe their puppies arent as healthy as they say.

Ive got a friend who has a chipmonk from the store and it was a bitter when he got it, and it still is. Their small critters are treated so badly that they will never make good pets and its not even their fault. these poor animals are allowed to be stressed poked and prodded by teens and jerks cus petland doesnt care enough to protect them. Ive had gueina pigs for nearly 25 years and ive never seen pig pigs as agressive as petlands. I couldnt even get my hand in the cage long enough to give water to or pet the *** pigs.

I just want people to know that petland isnt worth your time because they dont consider you worth theirs. Do you wanna visit a store that considers you "F.O.S- FULL OF ***"?

This is not the Same Petland on HWY 6 in Missouri City. It has been closed since 07'.

I know what store this is, it was called Pets and maybe it had changed to a petland. They kept all the old management and employees from "Pets".

This is a horrible store and I dont doubt anything in this post. I knew them very well as upset customers would eventually come to our Petland on 2026 HWY 6.

I purchased a african grey parrott and i was promised "proof of the sex"

I have called numerous times and each time someone would call me right

Back. ". Not happened "

I am upset with the customer service !!

I think that what this post said is not a dramatization. I have many animals including a dog, mice, fish, and snakes.

I also completed an internship at a veterinary hospital where I assisted in the surgery room every day and took care of the animals before their return home. I am very competent in caring for my pets and am able to identify and treat many diseases and parasites. I recently purchased feeder mice for my snake from petland in heath ohio. I fed one to my snake and kept the others in a cage to be fed at a later date to my snake.

Yesterday I found one of the mice died for no reason. Then today I found my snake dead also. I took the dead mouse and my dead snake back to the petland. I was treated poorly when I asked for a refund or replacement and was asked to leave the store.

I mentioned to the owner Cindy Bircher that she had at minimum 50-100 visibly sick animals for sale. She agreed with me on that. I advised her that it is wrong to sell customers animals that she knows will die. She seemed unaffected by these statements.

She proceeded to try to make me feel inferior and told me that she would not help me and to leave her store and to take my dead animals with me. I have never been treated so badly by anyone who was supposed to provide me with service. If anyone comes on here and posts that petland is good in anyway is full of it and just trying to fool people. Its too bad that so many don\'t know that they buy their dogs from puppy mills where they are never let out of there cage to the point where they go insane and can not stop running in a circle.

I know this because my aunt rescues puppy mill yorkies. So the moral of this story is that petland is bad (and yes I have walked into more than one and they are mostly the same) and if you buy something from there not only are you supporting animal abuse but you will most likely receive an over priced sick animal.

In addition you are also saying that its ok to treat people with disrespect. If you want to buy an animal go to the classified section of your local paper and make sure when you buy from a breeder that you get to see the living conditions of the animals.

WHAT PETLANDS??????

Guest

I bought a pug for my niece at about 9:00 pm on saturday at the Petland store in Orlando; Florida. I fell in love with him right away and even named him.

My niece unfortunately did not feel the same way, after coughing and sneezing she was in a full blown asthma attack requiring and ER visit. We did not know she was allergic to animals/ first pet. I returned the pet at 11:00 am the next morning much less than 24 hours. I expected a fee to be involved with the return but they were charging more than half of what the dog cost to return it.

The dog cost me $750 and they were charging me $400 to return it. The owner was not only unreasnable but condescending as well. Even after explaining the circumstances for the return and that I was willing to pay $200 for vet fees.

I filed an official complaint with federal services but I will never shop in this petland again and if you do not want to get ripped off you shouldnt either. The owner and therefore thecompany did not seem to care about the consumer and much less the well being of the pets.

***, I got a kitten from Petland and due to family problems and me being utterly *** (I didn't get any sleep) I gave the kitten back to Petland! I am very worried he will get poor treatment because I read former employees writing some nasty things about how Petland treats their "inventory".

I am hoping the kitten I purchased won't get mistreated and will be given a proper home. I am definately not buying any type of animal or any supplies from Petland again. I fell into the nonsense that the Petland website was saying. Do not buy ANYTHING from Petland if you care about animals.

If you buy animals or supplies from Petland your supporting abuse. And definately me buying a kitten and giving the kitten back was one of the worst things I have done to an animal.

i went to petland/charlestonwv one evening after i had dinner. it was right across the street and i work at petsmart and i thought id just go see what there store had small animal wise.

ive never in my life seen such aggressive small animals! if you ask me no cage should be a so called "petter" and all the employees had no interest in any customers. not one had ever said hello or can i help you with anything?

.. i just feel so bad for the cats and dog

Guest

Most of this story seems very strange to me. I manage a Petland and we are a business, what would be the point of being rude to customers?

Sometimes we get rude customers, but you kill them with kindness, it takes good customer service skills to run a business. If someone gets bit, we apologize then cover the cage to allow the animal to calm down. We would never call someone *** for getting bitten! If one of my employees knows there is a biter, we work with that animal even more to get them more socialized and ready to be a good pet!

This is just silly! The reason we send puppies home with the Nutri-stat, which is not a hypoglycemia med, it is a high calorie/high vitamin supplement and also appetite stimulant because sometimes whens a puppy goes home they can get stressed and choose to skip a meal and the Nutri-stat will replace the calories they other wise would have had from their meal, and makes them want to eat. It is just a precaution to avoid worse things that COULD happen, especially to small puppies that are prone to hypoglycemia. I'm sorry you had a bad training experience.

In my store I have a day of class room work where I work one on one with the new employee and we dont even step foot on the floor. As far as the kittens go, we are simply performing a community service similar to what a humane society would. Our kittens are 129.99, that is LESS than what our local humane society charges. Our kittens have their wormings/vacs done, have a free vet check after the first one they recieve with us, and have been tested neg for feline leukemia.

You won't get that from a cat off the street, and although those cats deserve good homes too this is the reason why ours cost what they do.

I'm sorry you had these experiences, but I can assure you that not all Petlands are the way you described.

Myself and almost all of my employees have had some sort of animal science or vet tech schooling and we take great pride in our animals, our knowledge and the care we give. I am sorry about your experience.

Guest

Okay so the original complaint is complete bull, and everyone else is just plain retarded. Petlands ACTUAL policy on bites: Get them a bandaide apologize, then either lock the cage or cover the petter because the animal is getting stressed or learning bad behavior.

PS: I do agree with the Mali lizard complaint, but even with the very well trained pet people, buying any animal without first researching its needs is just plain ***.

I will never buy anything from Petland ever again

I bought a puppy from them and that is only because he was on sale and he looked almost exactly how I wanted him to look. He is a Dalmatian. They waved this full warranty *** in front of my face and me like an *** I believed them.

They promised that the puppy was perfectly healthy. The warranty was supposed to last a year. well after a couple of months the puppy's stomach began to swell up. i thought it was parasites so I took him to the vet. The vet said he had a heart murmur and that he could not digest sodium so his stomach began to swell.

I went back to Petland and asked them what there warranty would cover since the sickness is congenital. They basically said I was screwed that they were not responsible. They sold me a sick Dog and they didn't feel they were responsible! Their warranty is not worth ***.

The good news is the puppy is doing fine. I am keeping him on medications and on a special diet.

Sadly he still has the heart murmur but not like Petland would care.

This place is horrible. Dogs are made to live in wire cages with little or no cushioning and have to live next to their own ***. This place needs to be shut down.

We went to Petland in Las Vegas, Nevada on with no intent to purchase a puppy. However, as we were browsing, this beautiful little Papillion puppy caught our eye.

We visited with her for an extended period of time as well as questioned the employees about the puppies. We had heard that places like these get their puppies from puppy mills, but found it hard to believe that she was one of them. She was very clean and seemed to be extremely happy and playful. The employee ensured us that the stores puppies were healthy and came from private and reputable breeders and that each was researched and recommended by the USDA and AKC as well as that they are periodically visited in order to keep their license.

The following she had greenish colored puss in her eyes as well as a visible worm problem, as she had gone to the bathroom in her crate overnight. We took her to the vet that Petland stated the animal had to be check by that morning, less than 12 hours after purchasing Bella. At West Charlston Animal Hospital, in Las Vegas, Nevada, they examined Bella and determined that she had an eye infection, which he provided us with drops for, as well as an obvious worm infestation. A fecal parasite exam was completed and determined that Bella also suffers from Giardia, which she was also prescribed medication for.

The vaccinations that we were told have been given to Bella prior to purchasing her were not administered by a vet and cannot be proven. The health record that was provided has small writing stating that “Indicated vaccine(s)/treatment(s) were administered by the breeder prior to purchase of the dog by Hunte Corporation”, who is listed as the distributor on the pet profile. Additionally, Petland stated that the puppy was current on vaccinations, which is not the case, due to the fact that we purchased her 5 and a half weeks after she was allegedly vaccinated. Therefore, she not been properly vaccinated while under the care of Petland, and could have been exposed to many illnesses.

Bella was also advertised to us to be AKC registered and excellent breeding quality. After further review of her AKC paperwork, we have determined that her father was unregistered with the AKC, and was only given an AKC number for identification purposes. There is no proof that this puppy is pure bred, and therefore is not AKC breeding quality as promised.

Bella has had health issues since birth, which the Petland employee stated were all “common with toy breeds”.

After further research, we have found that the Open Fontanel and Inguinal hernia repair that she had were likely due to hereditary issues with her parents. These dogs should not be breeding and should have been fixed. Additionally, at the time of Bellas inguinal hernia repair, she should have also been fixed, in order to prevent her from reproducing, which could not only result in puppies with similar issues, but could also result in health problems and even death if Bella were to ever be pregnant. Bella will need to have another surgery in order to be spayed, which should have been done at the time of her last surgery.

However, being spayed, the breeder would not have been able to sell her for as much money. Petland did not provide us with any veterinary information regarding this surgery, and there are no visible scars on Bellas stomach. Therefore, we are not sure whether or not this surgery was actually performed to correct this painful and dangerous health problem.

I called Midway Veterinary Clinic in Neosho, Missouri, which is the vet listed on Bella’s paperwork as the vet that did her surgery, microchip and vaccinations. The employee stated that she did not have Travis Fanning (the breeder) in her system and that even if she did, I would need to contact him to have her records released to me.

Although it appears that it will be expensive to look after Bella, we do not want to get rid of her. We cannot imagine putting this poor puppy through any more than she has already been through and intend on giving her the best life possible. However, it is quite distressing knowing that we have purchased a dog from a puppy mill and supported this horrible industry, and plan to do anything in our power to stop this from happening to these innocent animals.

If you have any information on puppy mills, Petland, Hunte Corporation or Travis and Betty Fanning I would love to see it! Please visit me on Facebook at: facebook.com/DontBuyFromPuppyMills

I bought my little Morkie puppy three weeks ago at Petland in Roundlake. She's positively adorable.

Of course I am only at three weeks. So far no issues with her except she's teething. One thing I will say though, is that they do try to sell you a bunch of things you don't need to get.

But other than that, my pup is ok. I will update as time goes on.

I am so glad your Morkie worked out ok for you. I fell in loves with a Morkie there and she got sick and wouldn't eat.

I had to take her back within the 48 hours because A) I couldn't feed her through a syringe anymore and B) that story they tell you about them being hypoallergenic is not true. My daughter was so stuffed up after being with her for 24 hours.

Well my puppy is fine from roundlake pet land.

Maybe the Petland in Las Vegas is entirely different than those in other states, but my experience with this store is very positive.

For Christmas my boyfriend told me that as a gift, I was allowed to get a puppy. After days of research I found an adorable little Morkie for sale at Petland. After doing extensive research on the breed, we went down to see her. She was full of life, happy to be with people and cute as a button. She can home with us the next day.

The only problem I had with the store, was that they told us she had a clean bill of health from their in-store vet, but she coughed ever so often. Worried, we took her (Casey) to the free vet visit and they told us she had kennel cough, but it was treatable. Petland covered the cost of the medications (two months worth of pills and cough syrup) and the several check ups she had after.

Casey is now a very healthy and lively 6 month old puppy. We often take her back to the store to buy treats, toys and food, and the employees are always delighted to see her. They cared for her and still do as far as I am concerned.

PETLAND is horrible!

I bought a ferret from Petland located at 8800 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite #3,Las Vegas, NV 89117,702-949-**** because he was on sale. He was absolutely beautiful, although a little bit lethargic. They waved this full warranty crap in front of my face and me like an idiot I believed them.We left Petland and took him directly to the Vet, where we spent an additional $50 having all the tests run for parasites and so on. I woke up the next morning and he was DEAD. We called Petland, they said bring him in and they would make it right. When we got there it was a completely different story. They refused to exchange it for another Ferret. They refused to give us our money back. And then they told us to have the Ferret autopsied, and theyre vet, at our expense. More than $200. The vet wouldn't autopsy him because he had been dead more than 12 hours. Petland told us we were screwed, and if we wanted our money back to take them to court. We didn't even have the ferret for 24 hours. He was a birthday gift, and holding a dead ferret for my birthday was NOT my idea of a good time. I was hysterical, they told us they would take care of us then they called security to usher us out of the store. Our entire experience was heartbreaking. Their warranty is not worth the paper it was written on. I urge everyone to stay far far away from this store at 8800 W. Charleston Blvd.,Suite #3 Las Vegas, NV 89117, 702-949-****.

I would have taken them to court. Small claims court would have cost about $25- $50 to file. It would have been worth your time to do so, and had they lost the case (most likely they would have) they might have thouight twice before pulling that same *** on someone else.

Well thankyou for asking people to stay away from that store and not petland as a whole - I think what they've done is dispicable and totally instensitive.

p.s spray paint + store window = revenge :)

Petland Is Not Bad - Employee

I work at Petland in the kennels so I know exactly what goes on. I don't know about other places, but I know that the Petland Arboretum in NC is a place where the hierarchy is as follows:

Puppies

Birds

Fish

Managers

Employees

Want to know why the puppies are so expensive? Because our store managers drive out to the breeders to check conditions (I know this.) So that $3000 Bulldog is $1000 for the Bulldog and $2000 for the trip.

Some of my fellow kennel workers have been fired on the spot for not sanitizing their hands before touching a dog.

Like I have said, I cannot vouch for other Petland stores but the one I work in have the puppies as the highest priorities.

The pet land in GA is bad . Animals here are always smell bad and the bark at little kids.

Plus one time a dog tried to run away. The dogs have been biting through parents plastic bag.

Guest

PLEASE find a puppy at your local shelter or rescue - MILLIONS of unwanted animals have to be euthanized (or worse) every year through the shelter system - PLEASE ADOPT YOUR NEXT PET & DO NOT SUPPORT PET SHOPS!!

Guest

The semi truck they come on? you should see the inside.

it's better than our transit. And puppys get three thirty minute breaks every day for feeding so im sure thats what nikki was referring too. The HSUS started the rumors about petland puppys coming from puppy mills, but they're no saint either. those commercials with the cute puppies and kittens asking you to donate to their cause?

actual shelters get less than one percent of that money. and every petland is independently owned. our store owner has never turned down a customer asking for some sort of compensation for an illness or death beyond the owners control. if our puppies are found out to be sick, we send them back to the breeder and get refunded.

our vet is the most reputable vet in the city and is trusted by everyone.

im sure not all petlands are great ut i know ours is. every petland is independently owned.

Guest

I am not sure if Petland is good or bad. However, last August we became the proud parents of a puppy from a Petland. I have to say I was very concerned as I had read a lot about Petland and was hesitant. I even drove right past the store when I had all the stuff ready for my puppy and was driving there to pick him up. And then I stopped at another pet store and got to talking to a worker there. By coincidence, he had worked at 'my' Petland. And spoke highly of it - I spoke to him about my concerns. Well, I took faith in my hands and got Oscar home. Oscar is the sweetest temperment and the darling of our house. In addition, our neighborhood waits for our walks. He is the love of the daycare he goes to. I have to say that sometimes I worry if some illness will come up later. But, that is what Oscar's pet insurance is for.

In retrospect, I wish I had heeded my husband's request to go to a shelter to get a puppy. I did not as I wanted to select a breed rather than from different breeds. But, I know that would have been better for the environment.

But, I have been very happy with the purchase. Though I did bargain down the price quite a bit as I had done research on the web and specifically on Craigslist.

The store was wonderful and we love our 4 pound bundle of joy who is now 12.5 pounds today

i got a robo hamster from petland. He asked me which hamster i wanted i pointed to a cute fat one he grabbed the one that was super skinny and had wettail disease and i was like this is the one i chose he hesitated and walked away so i asked a lady and finally i got my fantastic robo hamster. employees there are so moody and rude

I worked at Petland in Athens, Ohio and I hated it! I was so used to working for a small local shop that actually cared about pet health and nutrition (I moved from Maryland and we didn't have Petland).

Some of the puppies that they get "shipped" in look to be in good condition, but develop horrible problems within the first five months of you owning one. I bought my first puppy there (pre-employment) because I felt so bad for it and the conditions that it had to live in. I spent around $500 on a single animal ER visit because we had a scare that she might have had ParvoVirus.. The manager was full of *** and didn't know a thing about pet nutrition.

I wouldn't trust her with a hamster, yet she has 17 dogs of her own.. They sell German Shepherds there for a whopping $1,700, when you could get one from a reputable breeder for $1,000 less than that AND it would come with a guarantee of health..

When you buy a dog from Petland, you don't know what you're getting.. Support your local animal rescue or just do some research and find a good breeder!

Guest

Petland is a horrible place to get a puppy from. One: The puppies are ridiculously overpriced and you don't even get the puppy you hoped for. Two: On top of the insane prices there's also the diseases your puppy brings home from its so-called "reputable breeders and strict vaccination schedule. They give puppies wrong medication at wrong times. I'm surprised their puppies don't pass away at the store! And Three: Speaking of diseases, now that you're the owner of a Petland puppy, who's going to pay for the tremendous vet bills once your puppy gets sick? YOU!!! Many people don't even get their money back once their puppy dies a few days later.

The best and safest bet for you would be to:

ADOPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest

I visited Petland many times and fell in love each time with a new puppy or kitten. SO I thought, what better place to work?

After being hired, I immediately noticed how the puppies were shipped to us (On semi trucks like common cargo).I then noticed the condition the puppies were in. Skinny, teary eyed, and having diarrhea.

I started working in the kennel and was trained thoroughly on "preventatives", as in every puppy received them with signs of sickness or not. Some puppies came in looking fine and healthy, most others were under weight and under supervision for possible giardia, upper respiratory, and even Parvo. All through out my training I was constantly assured we did not get our puppies from puppy mills.

I was told to not believe the stories I heard from most of our customers, that they were just cranky.

I was also told to push the sale, make a sale to anyone, get anyone financed. I worked on the sales floor and in the kennel. I witnessed multiple 'puppy seizures'.

There always seemed to puppies in quarantine. Sanitation was an enormous deal there because most puppies were sick and it would be bad for business if every puppy was sick. In my opinion, PETLAND DOES NOT CARE WHERE THEIR PUPPIES COME FROM OR WHERE THEY GO. Petland is a retail business, they sell a 'product', and that 'product' just happens to be cute animals.

To end puppy mills and places that put those puppy mills in business would for us animal lovers would be to do the unthinkable and not 'help' these animals by taking them into our homes, but that is how these businesses make their money. It is a horrible circle. PETLAND NOT ONLY LIES TO THE CONSUMER, BUT THEY LIE TO THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES. Every employee is guaranteed that each puppy is healthy and safe, but they are to NEVER show the customer the puppies medical record because it raises questions.

Employees speculate that the reason there are so many sick puppies is because there are so many of them. It couldn't be because most of the puppies are 5 to 6 weeks of age when we receive them , because they are Oh so cute at that age and sell so much better. A Petland kennel can house 50 or more puppies. I currently work in a Vet's office, and run the boarding kennel as well as my own Grooming salon.

We consistently have more dogs and puppies in our facilities than a Petland has in it's kennels without outbreaks of kennel cough, or anything for that matter. Not every puppy is sickly, but the customer will still get charged some ridiculous amount.

Guest

"with little to no medical care. "

-Virginia Logan

I would invite you into the kennels where I work. There you would see how much medical care we have to give. Weighing, temping, giving pills, vaccines, nebulizers, the list goes on.

It has been a while since I scoffed at such an uneducated accusation.

Never buy from PETLAND

Long story but I learned my lesson. NEVER buy puppies from Petland. Petland breaks my heart for those puppies. They are awful and should be shut down. If you want a puppy please do research of your own. Adopt or buy from someone reccomended by a friend. There are so many babies out there that need a good home. Check with your vet they could shoot you in the right direction. Just please take my word on it. NEVER buy from Petland. Well.. unless you have LOTS of money and can afford vet bills coming out your whoha. PETLAND broke my heart. :(

enough with the 4th grade countless rows of smiley's.

with that said, you should always adopt from a shelter before buying an animal from the pet store because most of them like the op say's, come from puppy mills.

I DO know Petmsart deals directly with the shelters and foster families so they are good people and a good store chain.

Anyone running or operating a puppy mill should be shown no mercy in a court of law.

PETLAND * PUPPY MILLS

An 8-month-long investigation by the Humane Society of the United States finds one national pet store chain is the country's number one supporter of puppy mills. An undercover investigation has tracked almost 17,000 puppies from Petland to puppy mills, most from puppy mills in the Midwest.

The Humane Society says many Petland stores across the country are supporting cruel puppy mills...even while telling unsuspecting customers that the dogs only come from good breeders. Most of the puppies come from a puppy mill in Minnesota which practices illegal procedures such as cesarean sections and spaying and neutering. Stephanie Shain, director of the HSUS Stop Puppy Mills

Campaign, says that like many pet stores, Petland Incorpation claims that they dont buy from puppy mills.

Wow, I feel horrible!! To the poster above, I find it hard to believe you bought 3 dogs from Petland with NO health issues!!!

I bought one dog from them and she was sick with in days of me bringing her home. The health warranty is to get the dogs out the door. False sense of security!! You get your full refund if its a congenital problem and the dog passes away.

In my case my dog was sick with respiratory problems, anemia, swollen lymph nodes, etc. She is fine now 10 months later..THANK GOD!!

Don't ever buy from a pet store!! I learned my lesson and I never will again!!

Guest

The HSUS is completely unreputable. And I can't believe I still have to say this but. All of Petland's breeders are inspected quarterly to ensure that they not only meet the needs of the animals but EXCEED them, if a breeder does not meet petlands standards they are discontinued as a source, and if the breeder does not meet basic care standards they are reported to authorities immediatly.

Guest

I agree with John, the HSUS is a joke. If they were doing an 8 month investigation and they were finding all these terrible things, had they really been concerned about the animals welfare rather than marketing themselves they would have contacted the authorities immediatly, not let these "attrocities" continue for 8 months.

It was also kind of a coincidence that this "investigation" came out right in time for christmas when they start their annual fundraising. They were trying to make money by taking it away from Petland. Before you buy into the HSUS, do your research. I bought all 3 of my dogs from petland and I have had zero health problems.

Besides that, the reason I bought them there is that they gave me the breeders information (and I have contacted them) and the puppies had health warranties. Not that I have had to use them, but would it make sense to offer any health warranties at all if they were getting them from puppy mills? Obviously puppy mill puppies are going to be sick, so offering health warranties would be a bad business deal for them because they would have to keep paying out.

They are simply backing up their puppies and they have nothing to hide or they wouldn't have told me who the breeders were. I love my dogs and would purchase from Petland again!

Guest

Im sorry but if anyone puts any stock into anything the HSUS says, they are just misinformed idiots. The HSUS is not affiliated with any humane society or spca in the US.

They are also kin to eco-terroist like PETA. They have one agenda and that is that all pets run free and no one owns a pet. That is just ridiculous.

I have shopped at many Petlands throughout the US and most are top notch places with caring owners. To say that anyone who sells an animal for profit is a puppy mill or someone that supports them is just ignorant.

Guest

Petland sucks. No breeder would ever trust her dog's pups to a random petstore.

Isn't it a little beyond coincidence the pups are always sick and that no one seems to find this 'reputable breeder' they swear they get their dogs from?

I can only hope any affiliates of Petland get away as soon as possible. Remember, what goes around comes around.

Petland Store 17657 North Dale MabryHwy,Lutz, Florida

I was told by two different employees at this Petland Store in Lutz, Florida that they would clip my parrot's wings and nails for the price of five dollars per parrot..this was on Tuesday. Today, on Thursday, when i went into the store, they first cut my african grey's toenail way too short and she was bleeding, they scared my lilac crown so bad, he was shaking when i got him back from them, then they hiked up the price that i had been quoted to thirty dollars, and told me that it was incorrect that i had been quoted the price of five dollars for each parrot..manager hid in her office, never came out to even speak to me, ridiculous, never will go back there again!

my husband was standing next to me when they quoted that 5.00 price to me. i raised cane with them, but they still charged me twenty dollars!! they obviously do not know what they are doing in this store, called to lodge a complaint at company headquarters, sent directly to someone's voicemail...they do not care about their customers or the animals, my parrot has been clipped by many folks, and never got cut like that! no apology, no empathy, no nothing!

they are very unprofessional!! they stink!!!

do not take your birds there to be groomed!

I LOVE Petland!! I personally worked starting a Humane Society in Missouri that is now 16 counties wide.

I love animals. I have in the last year purchased two puppies from them - they are wonderful every time I walk in, know my animals personally, and show how much they love all the animals they work with. Their trainer is also professional and excellent to work with.

All business's can have a bad day - don't judge them on a one time experience - who hasn't had a bad experience eating out when their server is having an off day? GO PETLAND!!

Guest

Guess what? You won't put them out of business!!!!! idiots

somethingsphishy.com and Keith Titus Traci Titus has terrible BBB reviews too.

Personally, I went to Petland/Lutz, with my daughter and grandson and I found these people to be the most helpful and courteous employees. They truly made us feel like we were at home.

There was no pressure and accommendated us with the pets. A young lady named Wendy ,(I think), talked and laughed with us. THEY WERE GREAT!! FRIENDLY AND NICE EMPLOYEES!!

THANKS PETLAND--my daughter did buy a precious puppy the next day!!

We had gone to Puppy Heaven and they were the rudest and hovered over us-telling us what to do- said don't touch and don't touch that (my daughter and I both worked at Vet Offices and we know how to treat animals--WE LEFT and WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE-WE TOLD THEM THEY WERE RUDE AND WE WOULD NEVER REFER ANYONE THERE. Petland also has a wonderful selection and animals seem healthy and the store very clean--

Guest

Unfortunately, your call most likely will not result in anything. I used to work at Petcetera and whenever people called the headquarters (we asked them to, a few times), nothing came out of it.

Two people won't make the company go out of business, so the best thing you can really do is just not go to that store anymore. Good luck with your birds :)

Guest

I think Petland employees are trained to lie. They certainly lied to me enough times.

I hope your birds are okay.

Tell everyone you can - DON'T SHOP AT PETLAND. Together we can put them out of business!

I have not had a single problem with any of my animals purchased at Petland. While in store all the animals seem in overall great condition.

Tanks and cages are kept well clean along with the store front.

When I purchased my dog from there 4 years ago they wen out of there way to make sure everything was in order before I took her home from vet visits and screening. I am still very pleased with what they did and will continue to shop there.

Guest

Just where do you think Petland get their pups ? The puppy fairy They have always used puppy farms its nothing new.

Guest

i bought a puppy last year from Petland and so far in 11mos I have spent over $3000.00 in medical bills on the dog.

1. worms and kennel cough

2.hip dysplasia surgery

3. failed hip displasia surgery

4. tranquilizers because he suffers from extreme seperation disorder

5.still needs other hip repaired but waiting for other leg to heal

He is an 80lb dog that can not be broken from jumping on my or my wifes lap. He has to have constant physical contact with one of us at all times. not just pet me contact,he must touch someone every waking hour or he cries till he can touch you. Thanks petland for the 80lb blanket. But we still love him and are fortunate enough to pay for his problems and give him a loving home. Dont buy from them you only propigate more seedy breeders to get onto the petland bandwagon. At least he's better then having a gun as he bites anyone within reach of us. Must be his fear of not able to touch us that makes him over protective

Guest

Mary and Camille, you guys really must take your own advice and research these things, and no the HSUS reports do not count because they are just as profit orientated as most businesses. Also I can garuntee (that word seems of to me) that Petland's puppies come from reputable breeders who are checked quarterly to make sure that they not only meet, but EXCEED the needs of the animal, if the breeder does not meet Petlands higher standard they are discontinued as a breeder, and if they do not meet basic requirements they are reported to the authorities immediatly.

Guest

john you are a misinformed ***. research any petland store and you will see where they get their puppies

Guest

ODD, YOU MENTION THEY COME FROM PUPPY MILLS BUT YOU DID NOT GIVE A REASON YOU KNOW THIS. WHAT YOU SAID IS JUST A MISINFORMED GENERALIZATION.

Guest

THANK YOU!!!!

Keep telling people this; just too many puppies die and mothers are worked to death over puppies in the window!

Don't buy puppies from Petland (former employee)

I am a former petland employee. I advise not to shop at petland georgetown.

Not only was i treated horribly but i witnessed many customers treated poorley by the owner and manager. When i started i was intrusted on how to "deel" with customers and they take pride in kicking people out and scaming them for all the money that they can squeez out of you. They will do anything to sell you a very OVERPRICED puppy. A puppy they bought for $600 will cost you $3,500 Puppys are said to come from breeders, but many come in sick and are sent back to be put to sleep.

As a person working in petcare (former Vet-Tech) I advise youSearch your papers and internet for a puppy breeder DONT SHOP AT PETLAND!!! (georgetown)

Petland does get puppies from puppy mills... I went to look and every puppy there had runny still.

And the one I went to had them drinking out of a rabbit feeder! That's evil! One puppy was so happy to run! Dogs shouldn't be confined!

Then when I asked where they got puppies it waswa ru around!

Honestly how venue u say u don't know where they came from? Don't shop at petland

PETLANDS DOGS ARE WAYYYY OVERWEIGHT TOO!!!!

Guest

I purchased a puppy in Nov. I took it first to their vet, and in 4 days also to my vet twice.

The poor puppy screamed when it had a bm, and wouldn't eat. I informed petland in Topeka, Ks, where I purchased it. The last time I brought it to my vet, I was informed I had to return it to the store, which is an hour away. I didn't get my poor little puppy back, as she passed away at the store.

We went 4 days without sleep at my house trying to do anything we could. This was very traumatic for all of us. Then, I am told it was my fault, and a lack of care. Impossible, there wasn't anything else I could have done.

They also sent me home with medication, so obviously this puppy was already Ill. I am at a loss, and can't believe they refuse to work with me.

Guest

Hi could you contact me asap? we are filing on petland and could use a little more information. Thanks.

heart b

@ Rae The sick puppy I boughr from petland was also from MO. I looked up all the violations the breeder had and gave Petland a copy for that small chance they would care. The violations were from two years ago to recent.

Guest

i worked at petland in largo florida until recently. i couldnt sleep at night!

TRUST ME..... DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY ANIMALS FROM THIS STORE!!!!!

Guest

First of all I thank you for specifying Petland Georgetown and not condemming all Petland stores. Camille why do you try? Petlands puppies are NOT purchased from puppy mills.

AND biddle, Petland does NOT send pets back to breeders to get put down, Petland does not support euthanasia except in the cases were it would be just plain cruel to not put down.

PS: That $600 puppy that we sell for $3500 (BTW a $600 puppy would be sold for $1300), is that 600 dollar puppy plus the cost of having it fixed, microchipped, vet checked WEEKLY, plus the cost of running the kennel (about $50 a day for each kennel). So that 1300 dollar puppy is making Petland maybe $100 profit if it sells within 2 weeks.

Guest

We've had a horrible experience also w/this store. We bought a puppy a month ago and have taken her to the vet 5 times and she is still sick.

She's had Coxacida, fever, chills, can't keep anything down and now we're worried it's a condition she was born with. We were told she came from a local breeder and instead have found she came from a puppy mill in MO. Petland has stopped paying the vet bills and we're afraid our puppy isn't going to make it much longer. I have called the corporate office and they said that this store is a franchise but did not know the owner's name.

They did take my complaint and said someone would call me. I explained that I can not get the manager to call me back and they said that the store in Georgetown does not return phone calls. So instead I've received inappropriate emails from them saying basically get over it, we're not doing anything. Anything we told you is hearsay unless you have it recorded - and I do!!!

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the attorney general's office and if we have to put our puppy down, I will be seeking legal representation. Of course they could care less. We did everything they required to follow their warranty and all they did was take our money and give us a sick puppy who is still sick.

Not only do they sell sick puppies, their customer service is horrible. Never again will I do business with them and I am making a point of making sure the word gets out.....PETA anyone????

Guest

EXACTLY!!

These poor dogs are often robbed of health and a good life because Hunte Corp. and greedy millers want your money.

Not you happiness, not the puppy's well being, money. Nothing more.
