Petland Is Not Bad - Employee
Page 2

I work at Petland in the kennels so I know exactly what goes on. I don't know about other places, but I know that the Petland Arboretum in NC is a place where the hierarchy is as follows:

Puppies

Birds

Fish

Managers

Employees

Want to know why the puppies are so expensive? Because our store managers drive out to the breeders to check conditions (I know this.) So that $3000 Bulldog is $1000 for the Bulldog and $2000 for the trip.

Some of my fellow kennel workers have been fired on the spot for not sanitizing their hands before touching a dog.

Like I have said, I cannot vouch for other Petland stores but the one I work in have the puppies as the highest priorities.

OK Virginia Logan, I understand your view. I am all for banning the Petland in Missouri - I really hope the law is passed.

I am just saying the one I work at is ok.

The sooner "Roxie's Law" is passed for TX, the better.

The ONLY reason they care about the puppies is because of the potential for PROFIT. Those dogs are nothing more than a commodity. Petland will sell a puppy to ANYONE who shows up with the money. UNLIKE, shelters who actually do make real efforts to ensure the people adopting the dog will care for the animal. The only thing the manager of PETLAND has ever even said to me is "B*TCH". Real professionals there! I'm working on "Roxie's Law". It will eventually stop Petland from being able to import puppies from out of state to be for sale in pet stores in Texas. I intend to see that Petland goes out of business in Texas. They are money-hungry, heartless monsters.

Petland puppies are NOT like children. They would go to jail for treating children the way the treat their puppies! Children don't have to live in filthy cages with little to no medical care. They are NOT forced from their mothers too early to be able to develop a healthy immune system. I am lobbying my congress in Texas to pass a law that would COMPLETELY BAN the import of puppies for sale in pet stores. I will not rest until Roxie's Law is passed in Texas. NO MORE MISSOURI PUPPY MILL PUPPIES IN TEXAS!

I'm not giving you my name because there is probably some confidentiality agreement I signed when I worked there but yes I did work there from Jan 2005-March 2007- I was part of the original people who worked there and watched it just go down the tubes. Why do you think they have shortened their hours- because they are not making any money because NO ONE WANTS A PUPPY MILL DOG!

Why risk it? True or false, go to a private breeder, check out the living conditions of the dogs, and go from there, knowing your puppy came from a good place. Better yet--Adopt!

I agree. I have worked at a Petland store for over 4 yrs and the store I work for has always been a model pet store. Our animals are well cared for and our owner has always insisted that our animals come first. Anytime many animals are together there is a potential for problems but our team works hard to insure that all animals are well taken care of and healthy.

BS have you worked at Petland Arboretum. If you have, your 2 years there has not been in the past 3 years since Ive been there. If you have, first name???

No response from anonymous = someone pretending they've worked there when they have not.

I have also worked at Petland- Arboretum and can say that this is not true at all. They do not go and check where the puppies come from- they come on a horrible smelling truck from Missouri. When they are ill they are locked up in the back and forced to lay in their *** until the kennel workers get around to cleaning their cages. DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM ANY PETLAND- it will have major health problems and is not worth the price. Check your local animal shelter, or find a reputable breeder. You will end up paying a lot less and getting a healthier dog. This petland employee obviously has been brainwashed by the managers into thinking otherwise. I will admit they do make you sanitize your hands before touching the puppies- that is true. But the petland employee who originally posted this needs to check his facts because I worked there for 2 years and was a manager and NEVER went to look at puppies or knew of any other managers going to look at them. We would get about 50 different dog breeds from the same "breeder"......if that doesn't scream puppy mill I don't know what does.

Petland lewisville is the same way, if we dont think you are going to take care of the puppy, we wont sell it to you. Puppies come first and we do everything we can to make sure they get a good home.
